Immortal vs. Mortal Weapon Mechanics

In Lost Odyssey, weapon usage depends heavily on character type. Immortal party members (Kaim, Seth, Ming, Sarah) can equip almost any weapon in the game once they learn the appropriate equip skills via Skill Link (such as Tolten's Royal Equipment). Mortal characters (Jansen, Cooke, Mack, Sed, Tolten) are locked into specific weapon classes.

Pairing high-tier physical weapons with custom Level 3 Aim Rings maximizes critical hits, elemental damage, and status application during endgame fights.

Best Weapons for Immortals

Kaim Argonar & Seth Balmore (Heavy Swords)

  • Best Weapon: Age of the King (Requires Tolten's Royal Equipment skill) or Durandal.
  • Key Stats: Highest physical attack power in the game and bonus critical hit rates.
  • How to Get It: Age of the King is obtained by collecting all Royal Relics across the world map with Tolten in your party. Durandal is found via underwater treasure hunting using the Nautilus.

Ming Numara & Sarah Sisulart (Magic Staves)

  • Best Weapon: Solomon's Staff / Sage's Staff.
  • Key Stats: Massive Magic Attack boost, reduced spell casting time, and bonus MP pool expansion.
  • How to Get It: Complete the Numara Palace side quest and find all memory seeds scattered across the world map.

Best Weapons for Mortals

Jansen Friedh (Black Magic Staves)

  • Best Weapon: Calamity Staff.
  • Key Stats: Significantly boosts Black Magic offense and casting speed.
  • How to Get It: Solve the interior tile puzzles within the Temple of Enlightenment or buy the formula from the secret merchant in Gongora's Secret Laboratory.

Cooke (White Magic Staves)

  • Best Weapon: Angel Staff.
  • Key Stats: Boosts healing spell potency and grants MP regeneration.
  • How to Get It: Complete the orphan side quest in the town of Saman during Disc 4.

Mack (Daggers & Throwing Weapons)

  • Best Weapon: Phoenix Dagger.
  • Key Stats: High agility bonuses and fire-elemental physical damage.
  • How to Get It: Complete Mack's spirit training event and recover the ancient vessel in the Ruins of the Ancients.

Sed (Handguns & Rifles)

  • Best Weapon: Hawk Eye.
  • Key Stats: Extreme ranged physical attack stats and high critical hit chance.
  • How to Get It: Recover the sunken pirate treasure chests using Sed's treasure maps while piloting the Nautilus underwater.

Tolten (Royal Swords)

  • Best Weapon: Master Sword / Age of the King.
  • Key Stats: Grants raw physical power and access to high-tier sword skills.
  • How to Get It: Reclaim all three royal family relics hidden in royal ruins across the world map.

Legendary Ring Combinations

An ultimate physical weapon is only as good as its equipped Aim Ring. Use the Ring Assembly feature to craft Level 3 rings using rare components gathered from late-game dungeons:

  • Boss Killer Ring: Combines Boss Killer Lv 3 + Critical Lv 3 for massive burst damage against super-bosses.
  • Element Slayer Ring: Stacks elemental damage multipliers to exploit specific boss vulnerabilities.
  • Soul Drain Ring: Adds MP and HP absorption to every physical strike.
