While the Alto Card is a fantastic asset for the early hours of Super Mario RPG, it quickly loses its effectiveness as you progress. When you start facing mid-game bosses that unleash devastating area-of-effect magical attacks, restoring 80 HP just isn't going to cut it anymore. To keep your party standing, you need to upgrade your musical credentials. The Tenor Card is the next logical step in your Toadofsky career, granting you access to some of the most potent healing items in the game.

Here is the exact step-by-step process to learn the working-class rhythm of the mountains, compose Toadofsky’s second masterpiece, and claim your upgraded Juice Bar benefits.

Step 1: Learn the Song of the Mines in Moleville

Unlike the first melody, you cannot get the Tenor Card right away. You must discover the inspiration out in the world first.

  1. Progress through the main story until you reach the mining town of Moleville.
  2. Dive deep into the coal mines, defeat the bomb-obsessed boss Punchinello, and rescue the trapped children to claim the third Star Piece.
  3. Once the mines are safe and operational again, you will notice the miners singing a specific working song (The Moleville Blues) as they dig. This is the exact inspiration Toadofsky is desperately searching for.

Step 2: Return to Melody Bay and Play the "Moleville Blues"

  1. Fast-travel back to Tadpole Pond and head right to the Melody Bay screen.
  2. Speak to Toadofsky. He will express his desire to hear a rugged, mountain-inspired tune.
  3. Just like before, the musical staff lines from top to bottom represent: Mi, Re, Do, Ti, La, So, Fa.

To recreate the Moleville Blues, you must jump on the swimming tadpoles in this exact eight-note sequence:

  1. Mi (The very top line)
  2. Do (The 3rd line down from the top)
  3. So (The 6th line down from the top)
  4. Do (The 3rd line down from the top)
  5. Re (The 2nd line down from the top)
  6. La (The 5th line down from the top)
  7. Ti (The 4th line down from the top)
  8. Do (The 3rd line down from the top)

Nail the sequence, and Toadofsky will be moved to tears by the rugged beauty of your composition. He will immediately reward you with the Tenor Card.

The Juice Bar: Upgrades and Items Unlocked

With the Tenor Card securely in your inventory, head back to the main Tadpole Pond area and visit the two tadpoles running the Juice Bar on the far left. Presenting your upgraded membership card expands their shop inventory, unlocking a true lifesaver.

Here is what the Tenor Card unlocks and why it is a game-changer for your party:

  • Megalixir (Known as "Finless Cola" in the SNES original):
    • The Upgrade: This premium drink restores a massive 150 HP to your entire active party at once.
    • Why it's great: By the time you reach areas like Land's End or Nimbus Land, enemy magic attacks hit incredibly hard. The Megalixir is your ultimate safety net. It allows you to bounce back from near-total party wipes in a single turn without having to rely on Princess Peach's FP-heavy Group Hug spell. Keeping a healthy stock of these in your inventory essentially guarantees you will survive any war of attrition.

You are now a respected composer in the Mushroom Kingdom, but your musical journey isn't quite over. Keep an eye (and an ear) out when you finally reach Monstro Town—there is one final, elusive melody required to claim the ultimate Soprano Card!
